The Kentucky Derby

Incase you were unaware, the Kentucky Derby was held on May 2nd of this year. Beth, Brittany, and I were fortunate enough to spend the weekend in Louisville, KY. We spent Friday at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Oaks and Saturday there for the infamous Kentucky Derby. We had SO much fun even all the way down to the big sunglasses...haha!

Blogging For LAPID Photographers/ Resizing My Blog

So....
Today I worked for Michelle all day. She wanted to get some of Larry and Wendy's wedding photos up on the LAPID Photographers blog site. I retouched, resized, and uploaded the images to the site. The blog looks great....my work here is done....I'm going home.

I love photography and everything that comes along with it.

Side Note: Michelle helped me resize my blog today. Yay, no more resizing images so they'll fit my blog!

The Campus-Prom 2009

Last Friday, The Campus held a Valediction Ball at the Wyndham Hotel in Peachtree City. I was asked to do portraits for the event. With the help of Clay (my brother-in-law) and Michelle (of LAPID photography) the shoot was a success. I am VERY happy with how the pictures turned out and would do it again anytime. The pictures below have been added to my portfolio.

TOMS "One Day Without Shoes" April 16th, 2009

Today, nationwide, people are going without shoes to raise awareness.

Most children in developing countries grow up barefoot and walking is often their primary mode of transportation. They can walk for miles to get food, water, shelter and medical help. Wearing shoes literally enables them to walk distances that aren't possible barefoot.

Wearing shoes prevents feet from getting cuts and sores on unsafe roads and from contaminated soil. These wounds are painful and dangerous when they become infected. The leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted parasites which penetrate the skin through open sores. Wearing shoes can prevent this and the risk of amputation.

Four of the planet's six billion people live in conditions inconceivable to many.

Thanks to TOMS Shoes, less and less children have to face life barefoot.

TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One.

Please join us today by taking off your shoes and spending the day barefoot.

Wedding Shower Invitations

So, I'm on a postcard kick right now. A couple months ago, I did a shoot with Jamey for her baby shower invitations which we....that's right, you guessed it....made using postcards. Long story short Mackenzie (the third stooge) LOVED them and wanted to use postcards for her long time best friend's wedding shower. "I am the maid of honor so I feel like its my job to make everything perfect." I guess it was last week sometime that Mackenzie came over and we threw some stuff together to make what will go down in history as the BEST POSTCARD EVER..haha..well, I like it anyway.

Brookwood Grill Roswell, Ga

Phew. Last night, I finished editing the pictures I took at Brookwood Grill about two and a half weeks ago. This was a unique job in that this restaurant had a very small amount of light to work with. On top of which, there was no room for a tripod and no time to adjust settings between shots. I did my very best but walked away slightly discouraged. I'm not so sure I will be accepting any more of these jobs without first aquiring faster lenses.

Atlanta Salon & Spa Magazine-Make Up Shoot

Just about a month ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a make up shoot that Thomas Fayhey was doing for his magazine (Atlanta Salon & Spa). This was my first experience with a shoot of this nature and I LOVED IT. I can't think of many better ways to spend a Friday (but this is because I am absolutely in love with photography). I took notes on the make up and application process Crystal Johnson, the make up artist, used on the model's face so that it could accompany Thomas' photos. Check out the final product by visiting the Master Make Up Tips section of the online magazine.

Seaside Beach, FL

March 16th thru March 19th of this year was spent at the beach with my mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, my husband's cousins, and my nephew. This trip came about when Beth (my mohter-in-law) volunteered to keep Clay's (my brother-in-law) son (my nephew) while Clay and his new (and first...incase there was some confusion) wife went on their honeymoon. Beth figured it'd be more fun to keep a two-year-old at the beach than at home. I had my doubts that we'd have "fun" on this trip but I was pleasantly surprised. We spent our mornings feeding everyone and lounging, our afternoons on the beach or at the park, and our evenings going to shows or taking pictures.

Nate Enloe-Subway's 'Get Fit Challenge' Participant

As do many of my jobs, this one began with a phone call. Nate called me last Sunday to tell me he was selected to participate in the Subway's Get Fit Challenge this year. As a result, he needed five current photos that he did not have. So, being the amazing friend that I am....I accepted the job. We shot the pictures Sunday and I gave them to him today. Thirty pictures taken, edited, and printed in three days (quickest turn around time EVER). Good luck, Nate!!
