Saturday, somewhere between midnight and dawn, our plane landed in Atlanta bringing an end to our week long stay in Honduras. A team of 15 from Crosspoint Community Church (me included) spent a week in Guaimaca, Honduras. Our primary focus was to ease the load of work off of the full time missionaries. Though, as in most cases, that's not the only thing God had in store for us.
For the first part of the week we worked around the hospital campus. The men dug a trench to house electrical wires and the girls painted. Wednesday, we started builing a house on a previously poured concrete slab. This wasn't just any house...it was for a widow and her daughter (who are members of the church on the hospital grounds). Thursday was a site seeing/souveniers day. Friday we finished the house. Even without running water, glass on the windows, or a door it is by far the nices house in that community.
Thursday evening we all had to make a tough decision. Rumor had it that Zalaya was going to try to reenter the country again on Saturday (the same day we were scheduled to head home). We had the choice to fly out Friday with a $300 penalty per ticket or to wait it out and trust that even that stuff was in the Lord's hands.
Despite the language barrier, we were able to worship with and love on the people of Guaimaca. Its been rough adjusting to life here (even after only a week of being there). This seems cliche but my life will never be the same. The poorest person here has more than the average person in Honduras.
If you can, please pray for the following:
1. That God's will continue to be done in Honduras
2. For the right people to step into leadership for the country
3. For Victoria, the young girl who accepted Christ last Friday. And that she WON'T be the last in her country.
